Storyteller. Real.Life.Stories. November, 2013
Avenue M, a neighborhood restaurant and bar in Asheville, NC is packed on storytelling night. Tables meant for four persons host eight. Folks sit shoulder to shoulder in circular booths. Extra chairs fill with guests who lined up out the door.
A hush descends on the noisy chaos as I bring the mic to my lips and speak the opening lines of my first person, true story.
" I was 21. Henry was 22..." My story ends with an eruption of applause. Six other rehearsed storytellers add their voices to the evening's event. A rousing success.
