"Cross That Line" by Naomi Shihab Nye

Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem and the story behind the poem remind me that as music practitioners we sing/play across “lines,  into “countries” since music, no matter what culture, “travels toward us from far away to deepen our day.”  And we are invited to be “brave” when we do so.
"CROSS THAT LINE"  by Naomi Shihab Nye
Remind us again,
brave friend.
What countries may we
sing into?

What lines should we all
be crossing?
What songs travel toward us
from far away
to deepen our days?

Last stanza from "CROSS THAT LINE"  by Naomi Shihab Nye, as heard on “On Being” with Krista Tippett 7/31/16
