I can do better than that

Dad eyed his guitars, then looked back at me.

"I can do better then that. How 'bout I donate a guitar to Len?"

Did you see this coming? I surely did not.

Nor did I, but from your previous sketchy description of Dad and his business, it seems perfectly in line with what is known for him to have done as he did. As with you, for Dad the love of music transcends the "desire for gold." And it also provides an excellent turn in the path of Len's story.

Hi Don.......so right on. Dad was so generous he never made any money. He gave me picks for my autistic patients (that's another story, by the way), deals on strings, and then this. I certainly was not begging --- I was going to pay for the guitar myself.

Dad's Music Store ended up losing money, and going out of business. I heard through the grapevine that the store burned to the ground...mysteriously. Hmmmm.
